Discover Miles Credit Card

If you're tired of limits and black out dates you find with your current airline credit card, you may want to look into the Miles card from Discover.

Earning Miles

This card makes it easy to earn miles. To start you off you will receive a bonus 1,000 for each of the first 12 months you use your card, so you can be well on the way to a free flight with a maximum of 12,000 bonus miles.

You can then continue to earn miles at a rate of 1 mile per dollar spent on the card. There is a maximum of 60,000 miles that you can earn per year.

Redeeming Miles

Redeeming miles is also easy. There are no restrictions on the number of seats available and no black out dates. Flights must be booked 21 days in advance and require a Saturday night stay.

If you choose, you can instead convert your miles into a cash reward or gift cards. This gives you the advantages of a miles card with the flexibility that other rewards can offer.

Other Card Features

Discover are also currently offering a special introductory interest rate on this card for both balance transfers and purchases. This is a 0% APR for the first 12 months of card membership. After that point your interest rate will revert to the standard APR which is currently between 10.99 and 17.99% depending on your circumstances.

Unlike with most airline miles credit cards, there is no annual fee with the Discover Miles card.

Credit Masters Review

This can be a great card if you want to save up for those free flights, but would still like the flexibility of knowing that you can redeem you miles for cash or gift cards if you change your mind later.

The standard interest rate on this card is fairly competitive, but will depend on your credit history. The introductory interest rate offer is, though, very good with a full 12 months of a 0% APR on both balance transfers and purchases.

Do bear in mind that even though there are no seat restriction or blackout dates with this card, you do need to stay a Saturday night and you do need ot book your flights in advance.
