Blue Cash from American Express is a popular credit card offering a great cash back rate along with special introductory interest rates.

Earning Cash Back

The amount of cash back you can earn with the American Express Blue card will vary depending on how much you spend in a year and where you shop. You can, though, earn up to 5% cash back on your purchases.

The cash back rate starts at 0.5% for your annual purchases of up to $6,500. If you shop at select stores, this rate will increase to 1%. For annual purchases over $6,500 purchases at select stores will earn a full 5% cash back, with a cash back rate of 1.5% on all other purchases.

Your cash back will accumulate over the course of a year and will then be credited to your monthly statement. The amount of cash back you can earn each year is unlimited.

Other features of the Blue Cash card

American Express are currently offering an introductory APR on the Blue Cash card of 0% for 6 months on purchases.

You can also get a reduced rate on balance transfers. The rate is currently 4.99% APR for the life of any balances transferred during the application process. Even though this isn't a 0% introductory rate, many people may find it advantageous as it is for the life of the balances rather than a fixed length of time.

You can also benefit from some great American Express features such as fraud and purchase protection as well as travel accident insurance when you use your card to purchase your travel tickets in full.

There is no annual fee for this card.

This can be an excellent choice if you are looking for a cash back credit card. You can earn up to 5% cash back, but be aware that for most purchases you may only earn 0.5% cash back, unless you spend more than $6,500 a year.

The introductory interest rates may also be a useful feature for many. Whilst the introductory rate on balance transfers isn't 0% it is, unlike with most cards, for the life of the balance and may still save you a lot of money in interest charges.

All in all this is a good all round card offering both cash back rewards and a fairly competitive interest rate.
